My boss thinks fantasy colors aren't for our upscale salon, but I DISAGREE.

Are bold hues unprofessional or just modern art?

Have you seen how some fantasy color jobs look like they belong in a gallery? @lisa_murray nailed it by calling them modern art. My old salon did a peacock feather design that clients loved, and it brought in so much buzz. That kind of detailed work takes real talent and planning, way beyond a basic single color. If a salon wants to be high end, it should show off this creative skill. Letting stylists use bold hues proves the salon is ahead of the curve and values art.

Salons need to budget extra time for those detailed fantasy colors, because rushing ruins the art. My friend's place charges a premium for the complex stuff, which covers the hours of planning and extra product. They also keep a portfolio book at the front desk so walk-ins can see the skill level right away. It turns curious clients into booked appointments because they understand the value before they even sit down.

Calling them modern art shows how upscale fantasy colors really are.
