Rant: My neighbor said my stain looked 'too perfect' on a 200-year-old pine dresser.
He asked if I ever thought about leaving a little more of the old character visible under the finish. I'm rethinking my whole 'make it look new' goal for antiques now, anyone else lean into the wear more?

What kind of wear do you like to keep?

My grandpa's old leather jacket has been in my closet for ten years, miles_grant35. It's beat up but the stories it holds make it impossible to get rid of. Some things just earn their keep.

Tbh I've got this old pair of boots in my garage that I can't seem to toss. They're all cracked and the sole is pretty much gone on one side. My wife keeps telling me to just throw them in the trash but I wore those things every day for like six years back when I was doing that big commercial job downtown. They got me through some real rough days and now they just sit there on the shelf collecting dust. Sometimes I look at them and remember that one time I stepped in a puddle of something I still don't want to identify, and the smell never really came out. Guess that's just how it goes with stuff that's been through the ringer with you.
