Took 3 tries to get a simple password reset done at my bank yesterday

I needed to change my password at Wells Fargo because I locked myself out, but their phone verification kept failing even though I was using the right phone number. After 45 minutes on hold and talking to two different reps, they finally emailed me a temporary link that worked. Has anyone else had their bank's security system backfire like this and make a 5 minute task take an hour?

Three tries? That is absolutely wild to me. It's like they're testing your patience on purpose with all those security hoops. I would have lost it after the first failed attempt and just walked into a branch at that point. The fact that they made you sit on hold for 45 minutes before giving you a simple email link is just ridiculous. Why can't they just have that option ready from the start?

Forty five minutes on hold just for them to say "oh yeah try this email link" is honestly criminal. I would have hung up after ten minutes max and just spammed the password reset until something worked. Three password attempts before getting locked out is the part that gets me though. Like who seriously remembers their exact password from three years ago when they only log in twice a year? Banks act like everyone has their login info memorized like its their birthday or something.
