Showerthought: I used to never call out a friend for being late, but now I say something after 15 minutes.
Back in college, we'd just shrug it off, but after getting stood up for a movie last month, I realized letting it slide wasn't actually being kind. How do you handle the 'chronically late' person in your life without starting a fight?

Honestly, I just start without them.

That's the only way anything gets done. People who wait around for permission just get left behind. You have to make your own start.

Doesn't it feel like there's this whole unspoken rule that you're supposed to wait for a green light from someone else before you do anything big? I see it all the time with friends who have ideas for a side hustle or a community project, they get stuck asking around for approval, and then nothing happens. The people who just quietly start, even if it's messy at first, are the ones who end up with something real. Your mileage may vary, but in my experience, that initial push without permission is usually what separates the talkers from the doers.
