Rant: I used to think tipping 15% was fine, now I do 20% minimum
Worked a catering event last summer where the kitchen crew split tips and I saw how little 15% actually covers when you're busting ass for 8 hours straight. Changing to 20% felt right after that, but am I wrong for judging people who still tip 15%?

Working those events changed my view too, I started tipping 20% minimum after seeing how hard the crew works.

Working those events changed my view too" - yeah, I get it, but I think people overreact. Seen waitstaff making more in tips than the cooks do in an hour. Not saying they don't work hard, but it's a job like any other. I tip 15% unless service is bad, don't see why I should go higher just because someone had a rough shift. Bartenders making bank at happy hour aren't hurting for cash.
