My neighbor swore by rain barrels for 2 years, I thought it was a waste
I was dead against spending $150 on a rain barrel setup, figured it was just some eco hype. After the July drought last summer my garden was toast while his was fine. Now I'm building my own system, anyone else flip on something like this?

@tessa_roberts1 probably got a smaller setup though, 50 gallons costs more.

Respectfully, spending more upfront on a quality barrel can save you from replacing a cheap one in a year or two. Those hardware store barrels are fine until a harsh winter cracks them, then you're back to square one. Sometimes paying a bit extra for thicker plastic or a proper screen is worth it in the long run.

Wait, you spent $150 on rain barrels? That's wild, mine was half that at the hardware store.
