Caught myself folding my t-shirts into perfect rectangles for 10 years before a buddy asked why I even bother
He said they all end up crumpled in two seconds anyway and I realized I've been wasting like 15 minutes a week on something nobody sees. Anyone else got a chore they keep doing out of habit that makes no real difference?
That whole "perfect rectangle" thing hits close to home. Used to alphabetize my spice rack every Sunday. Took an hour. Nobody uses them in order anyway.
You ever try just grouping by category instead of going full alphabet? I gave up on exact order myself after I spent 20 minutes looking for cumin one Tuesday. Now I just keep the stuff I actually use every day up front, like garlic powder and paprika, and shove the random turmeric and cardamom to the back. Weekends still get a quick tidy but I'm down to maybe 10 minutes, tops.
What, you too? Man, I feel that in my bones. I used to arrange my CDs by color of the spine, not even by artist. It looked great but I could never find anything when I wanted to play it. I finally gave up and just threw them all in a big plastic tub. Life got a lot simpler after that.
