TIL the difference between OEM and aftermarket injectors on a 7.3 Powerstroke

So my buddy's '02 F-250 kept blowing white smoke and running rough. He had bought some cheap reman injectors from a parts store about 6 months ago. We pulled them this weekend and three of them had different spray patterns than the other five. Swapped in a set of OEM Ford injectors and the truck runs like a dream now. Has anyone else had luck with aftermarket injectors or is it always a gamble?

Cheaper stuff always costs more in the long run.

Bet my uncle saved so much money buying those cheap glow plugs that melted into his engine block. He'd tell you all about the savings if his bank account hadn't spent triple on the tow bill and rebuild. But sure, keep telling yourself you're a smart shopper while your car sits in the shop.

Bet they were just cheap remans, not really a fair test of aftermarket.
