TIL a trick for stubborn injector sleeves at a job in Billings

The old foreman showed me how a light coat of antiseize on the o-ring, not the sleeve, lets it seat without binding. Anyone else have a better way to deal with those things?

Tried that once and it just made a greasy mess for me. What finally clicked was warming the sleeve with a heat gun, just enough to expand it a bit. Slide it right into the head then, and the o-ring goes on dry. Let it cool and it locks in place. The antiseize trick is okay in a pinch, but I trust the heat method more for a solid seal.

Honestly @sean_murray, the "greasy mess" part is too real. My first try looked like I buttered the whole thing. Tbh I still use a little antiseize but only because I'm scared of melting stuff with a heat gun. Your method sounds way cleaner for getting that tight seal.

But is it really that big a deal? Sean_murray's heat gun trick sounds like overkill for a simple o-ring.
