PSA: The push for electric is killing good diesel jobs in my town.
Local shops are closing because no one wants to invest in diesel anymore.

Man, that's rough to watch happen. I saw the old NAPA parts store on Route 9 shut down last year, and Bob's Diesel repair just had a going-out-of-business sale. It leaves a real hole in the town. You're right, it's not just about the cars, it's about the people who fixed them. Hard to see what fills that space.

My town got a few locals to chip in and help a struggling auto shop update their space. They're still running now because the community basically became their marketing team.

Ngl, this feels like that same hollowing out happening with local hardware stores when big box retailers moved in. Just another piece of the town's identity getting replaced by something nobody asked for.
