PSA: I used to think those 'diesel fuel additive' bottles were just a waste of money
I was working on a 2015 Duramax that kept having injector issues, and the owner mentioned he'd never used an additive in the 80,000 miles he'd owned it. An old timer at the parts counter overheard and said, 'Modern ultra-low sulfur fuel has no lubricity, kid. It's like running metal on metal.' I started adding a shot of Hot Shot's Secret to my own truck's fill-ups. The difference in how smooth it runs, especially when cold, is noticeable. Anyone have a favorite brand for keeping those high-pressure pumps happy?

Switched to Archoil AR6200 a few years back after my CP4 started making that awful whining noise. That stuff is like a miracle worker for pump noise. The injector balance rates on my scan tool look way better now too. I just use it every other tank to keep costs down.

Wait, you're only using it every other tank? I been pouring that stuff in like it's going out of style every single fill up for the last year. Guess my wallet could use a break, but man, that pump was screeching so bad I thought my truck was gonna leave me stranded at a gas station. The balance rates on my scanner were all over the place too, like four different numbers for four different injectors. Now they're all within like 2 or 3 of each other. Might have to try your method and see if I can stretch the bottle a little further though, my wife keeps asking why I got a jug of "snake oil" in the garage.

Ever notice how the right additive can fix a problem we just learned to live with? Good to hear it worked for your pump, @seth_green85.
