I laughed at the old guys who swore by synthetic oil back in 2012, now I won't touch conventional.

After I grenaded a 5.9 Cummins at 180k miles in my work truck outside of Lubbock, the rebuild guy showed me the sludge caked in the oil pan and asked what I was running. That visual alone was enough to convert me, anyone else have a moment where a shop foreman's advice finally clicked?

Read a study that claimed synthetic reduces engine wear by 47% over conventional oil.

I was team conventional until I pulled a valve cover covered in crude.

Man you're getting played by big oil marketing. Conventional oil changed every 3k miles will outlast your truck, that Cummins probably died from something else entirely and the mechanic just sold you on the fancy stuff lol.
