I had a fuel line blow off on a Detroit 60 series during a road call outside Flagstaff
I was finishing a fuel filter swap on the shoulder of I-40, just got the engine started. Suddenly there was a huge spray of diesel from the secondary filter housing. The 5/16" nylon supply line had popped clean off its barbed fitting. I shut it down fast, but we lost maybe a gallon onto the asphalt. Had to cut the line back and use a new brass ferrule and clamp. Has anyone else had those plastic lines fail like that on older Detroits?

Sounds like a messy but pretty common fix to me.

Most people don't realize that fix can actually void your warranty if it's a leased car. Checked with my dealership last week and they said it's considered "unauthorized modification" in the fine print.

Common" doesn't mean it's the right fix though, does it?
