I figured those magnetic oil drain plugs were just a gimmick for years
Pulled one out of a 6.7 Powerstroke last week and it had a solid quarter inch of fine metal fuzz stuck to it. I'm a believer now, it caught stuff the filter missed. Anyone else run these on their fleet trucks?

Guess the filter wasn't doing its whole job.

My buddy Jake put one on his old Silverado with 200k miles. He showed me the plug after the first oil change and it looked like a tiny steel wool pad was stuck to it. That really makes you wonder what's floating around in there, right? It's like @michaelnguyen said, the filter doesn't get everything. Jake swears it's the best ten bucks he ever spent on that truck.
