Heard a fleet manager say something about air dryers that stuck with me

Guy I know who runs 30 trucks said he replaces desiccant cartridges twice as often as the manual says and he hasn't had a wet brake can in 4 years. Anyone else running a shorter change interval and seeing results?

You ever notice how manuals are written by guys who never actually have to fix the stuff? That's the thing with a lot of these service intervals, they're the absolute minimum for a brand new truck in perfect conditions. Real world air is full of dirt and moisture, especially if you're in a humid climate or running dusty jobsites. I've seen guys stretch filter changes on everything from air dryers to oil filters, and they always end up paying for it with broken stuff down the road. Your friend's got the right idea, a little extra maintenance upfront saves a ton of headache and money later on. It's like changing your furnace filter every month instead of every three, just makes everything last longer and work better.
