Finally got my shop's 12-valve Cummins to hold 40 psi of boost without blowing a boot. Took me a month of tweaks.

Honestly used to think chasing that kind of boost number was just asking for trouble. Figured you'd just be trading reliability for a big ego. Seeing someone actually get a 12-valve to hold 40 steady, that's a different story. It shows a real focus on doing the whole job right, not just cranking up the fuel. Changes my view on what's possible with enough patience. That month of tweaks sounds about right for getting everything to play nice.

Wait, a whole month just on tweaks? That's wild... I know guys who'd slap a bigger turbo on and call it a day, then wonder why it smokes or eats head gaskets. @nelson.finley is right, getting a 12-valve to sit at 40 psi without breaking is a totally different game. It's all the little stuff, like the oil feed lines and the wastegate spring, stuff most people rush. Makes you realize how much work a real build actually is.
