Drove past a shop outside Boise that had a sign saying 'we fix anything with a diesel'
Pulled over to ask about an old generator I've been fighting with. Guy behind the counter spent ten minutes telling me about a 1972 Cat dozer they just rebuilt from the ground up. Said they found a mouse nest in the oil pan that had been there since the 80s. Made me feel better about the mess I deal with daily. Anybody else ever find something weird inside an engine that shouldn't be there?

That shop sign is the kind of honest simplicity you don't see much anymore. Everything's specialized to the point where you need three different guys just to fix a lawnmower. Finding a place that says "we fix anything with a diesel" feels like stumbling into a time machine, back when folks just figured stuff out instead of calling support lines.
