Why does nobody talk about managed switches vs unmanaged for a small office
We ran 14 devices off a cheap unmanaged 8 port switch in our 1200 sq ft office for 8 months and the network froze every time someone hit the big printer, then a $180 managed switch with VLANs fixed it in one afternoon, so has anyone else hit that same wall where the cheap box just chokes under real traffic?
Its like how a $40 toaster and a $400 one both make toast until you load them up with four slices at once, the cheap one just gives up. Same thing with switches, the box only falls apart when you actually push it.
