Walked into a WeWork and their network closet looked like a rat's nest
I was subbing a flooring job at a WeWork in downtown Austin last month, and the IT guy let me peek in their closet to run my tools. Dude had cables drooping everywhere, no labels, and an old Cisco switch just sitting on a stack of pizza boxes. Made me wonder how many of these coworking spots are running on pure chaos. Has anyone else seen a commercial setup that made you cringe?

Running on pure chaos" honestly describes half the shared office spaces I've seen. I used to think all commercial IT closets were professionally managed, like with proper cable trays and everything color coded. But then I did a small wiring fix at a coworking spot in Brooklyn, and their server room looked like someone threw spaghetti at the wall and called it a day. No grounding, no surge protection, just a tangled mess of Cat5 and extension cords. That experience totally changed my mind because now I assume every cheap membership space is held together by hope and a prayer.

Took one look at the cable nest in the corner of my shop's storage room and felt seen. I don't even run servers, just a couple routers and a point of sale system, and it's still a disaster back there. Those coworking spots probably have the same vibe, just on a bigger scale with more people praying it holds up.
