Walked into a client's new office in Dallas and counted 14 unmanaged switches daisy chained off one wall jack
Was there for an unrelated HVAC thing last Tuesday and the IT guy gave me a quick tour. Every desk had its own little 5 port switch, all plugged into each other like christmas lights. He said the network "gets slow around 3pm" and nobody knows why. I mostly do commercial cabling so I kept my mouth shut, but wow. Is this common in small offices or did I just walk into a special case?
Read a post from a network guy who said this is super common in small offices that grew fast and never hired real IT. The daisy chain thing kills me though, it's like plugging power strips into power strips and wondering why the breaker trips. Sounds like you found a pretty special case with 14 of them though.
