Unpopular opinion: I switched our shop's guest Wi-Fi to a separate old router and cuts dropped to zero
Last month our front desk tablets kept losing connection to the scheduling system, and the ISP guy in Spokane told me the cameras and the guest network were all sharing one flat broadcast domain. I dug a retired Netgear out of a closet and put guest traffic on its own box, which took about 40 minutes on a Tuesday. We went from 6 or 7 complaints a week to none, mostly because a guest streaming Netflix can no longer drown out the card reader. Kind of embarrassing it took me this long, but has anyone else found that a cheap second router beats a fancier VLAN setup for a small office?
