That networking engineer I met at a bar in Denver changed my whole view on fiber vs copper

He just said 'fiber upgrades are cheap until you factor in the labor for re-terminating a broken pigtail at 2AM' and now I'm sticking with CAT6A for our warehouse runs, has anyone else found fiber maintenance costs sneak up on you?

My buddy over at a logistics company had fiber in their new building and thought it was the greatest thing ever... until a forklift backed into a patch panel. That little mishap turned into three days of downtime waiting for a fusion splicer and a guy who knew how to use it. He told me copper would've been fixed in an hour with a cheap crimper and a new keystone.

@ninas70 that forklift story is brutal, I read a case study where a distribution center switched back to copper for exactly that reason. Three days of downtime for a fiber fix versus an hour with copper is a hard sell for most ops people.
