Switched from Cisco to Ubiquiti for our office network in Dallas

I used to run all Cisco switches and routers at our 40-person office, but after our last support contract renewal hit $2,500 a year, I swapped to Ubiquiti gear last spring. The change was rough at first because the CLI is totally different, but the dashboard makes it way easier to manage VLANs and traffic. Has anyone else made a similar switch and found a config trick that helped with the transition?

Did you read that recent article on Spiceworks about Ubiquiti's new switching features? I caught it a few weeks ago and it mentioned how their latest firmware handles multicast way better than before, which was one of my biggest headaches when I moved from Cisco to Ubiquiti at my place. The CLI difference is definitely the toughest part, but I found that using the UniFi controller's auto-optimize network setting for VLANs saved me hours of manual config. Another thing that helped me was mapping out my old Cisco configs to the new GUI terminology, like how access ports translate to network isolation settings in Ubiquiti. Once you get past the initial learning curve, the cost savings and simplicity really start to pay off. Are you using the cloud controller for remote management or sticking with the local one?

Have you tried the VLAN mapping feature you mentioned, @iris_green84?
