Serious question, why did nobody tell me about setting static IPs for the office printers?
We've got 4 printers across two floors in our office and for 8 months every time the power flickered, somebody's laptop would lose the printer and I'd get called to fix it. Last week a buddy who does IT for a bank asked if I'd set static IPs instead of letting the router hand out new addresses every time, and I felt like an idiot. Took me about 20 minutes on the router settings and the printers have stayed put ever since, no more ticket about "the printer is gone again." Is there some other basic network thing like this I'm missing, because I clearly skipped a chapter somewhere.
