PSA: Had a switch port go bad and it took me 6 hours to figure it out
Spent all afternoon last Tuesday chasing a slow link on a Netgear switch in our office. Turns out port 8 was dying and the diagnostics showed nothing. Has anyone else had a switch just fail on a single port like that?

I had a similar problem last year with an old Cisco SG200. Port 12 started dropping packets after about an hour of uptime. Like you said, standard diagnostics showed nothing wrong. I had to just label that port dead and move everything to another one. And I agree with craig.parker about checking for bent pins first, but in my case it was internal and nothing I could fix.
