Dropped $380 on a used managed switch for my shop and it bricked itself in 2 weeks

I run a small print shop out of a garage in Toledo and my old unmanaged switch was maxing out whenever both printers and the NAS ran at once. So I grabbed a refurb Cisco Catalyst off a reseller for $380, which felt like a steal at the time. Set it up with VLANs, felt like a networking genius for about 10 days, and then it just stopped passing traffic one morning. No lights, no console, nothing. The reseller's return window was 14 days and I was on day 16, so I ate the whole cost. I'm back on a $40 dumb switch now and honestly it works fine for what I do. Has anyone had luck getting a refurb switch vendor to honor a warranty past the listed window, or am I just out the money?
