Used a blade grinder for 3 years before I got a burr one

My buddy came over last Saturday morning and made coffee. He took one sip of mine and made this face. Asked what grinder I had. I showed him my $20 Krups blade thing. He literally laughed and pulled out his Timemore C2 from his bag. First cup I made with it actually tasted like something other than bitter ash. How long did it take you guys to realize your grinder was holding you back?

totally feel you on that. it's wild how we just accept bad stuff as normal cause we don't know any better. willow732 that article hit the nail on the head - blade grinders are legit just bean crushers. it's like the same thing with cheap blenders vs good ones, or even those sad $30 headphones we all used before getting real ones. people just dont realize how much a tool holds you back until you try the right version. 3 years is rough though, i only made it 6 months before a friend shamed me into upgrading lol.
