Tried pre-heating my mug for 2 minutes and it actually fixed my lukewarm coffee problem

I was so sick of my coffee going cold before I even finished half the cup, especially during winter mornings. I read some random comment about pouring hot water into your mug and letting it sit for a full 2 minutes before adding the coffee. Tried it with my thick ceramic mug from a local shop in Portland, and the difference was huge - my coffee stayed hot for at least 15 extra minutes. Has anyone else tested this with those double-walled mugs or is that overkill?

Yeah I actually tried that with a double-walled Yeti and my coffee stayed warm for like an hour but honestly it was too hot to drink at first...

My dad still uses this old Stanley thermos from the 80s and that thing will burn your mouth eight hours later... I think they made them different back then.
