The barista who tried to shame me for ordering a cortado at 2pm

Walked into this third wave shop in Austin last Tuesday. Place had that whole industrial vibe. I ordered a cortado. Dude behind the counter gives me this look. Says "you know that's a morning drink right?" I laughed it off. He was dead serious. Made the whole thing feel awkward. Then he spent 5 minutes explaining the history of cortados and why they're for breakfast in Spain. I just wanted my coffee. Paid $4.50. Drank it fast. Left. Now I'm stuck. Is there really a right time for certain drinks? Or is this gatekeeping garbage?

Man, baristas really have a hidden rulebook about after-hours coffee orders don't they? I bet if you ordered a black coffee at 8pm they wouldn't bat an eye, but the moment you ask for something sweet and fancy it's like you're breaking some unspoken code. Makes you wonder what kind of weird vibe a decaf vanilla latte at 9pm would get.
