Stopped in at a tiny roastery in Portland and noticed their espresso machine had a sticker from 1997 still on it.
The owner said he's never had to replace a single part on that La Marzocco in all that time, just regular descaling and gasket swaps, which makes me wonder if new machines are built to last that long anymore.

Bet that sticker is doing more work than most new machines' warranties. They probably don't make them like that anymore because they want you buying a new one every five years. Guess old tech just outlasts planned obsolescence by accident.
