Remembering the time my entire pour-over setup slid off a wobbly table at a campsite near Bend, Oregon, leaving me with a carafe of grounds and cold water.
I spent the next 20 minutes picking coffee silt out of the gravel with a plastic fork while my friend just handed me a can of cheap gas station brew, asking 'is this enthusiast enough for you?'

That friend handing you the gas station can is the kind of brutal honesty we all need sometimes. The universe looked at your pour-over ritual and said 'absolutely not'. Honestly, picking grounds out of gravel with a fork is the most dedicated, and saddest, coffee ceremony I've ever heard of. Bet that cheap brew tasted like defeat, but also maybe like a pretty good time-saver.
