Question about hitting 47 coffee bags in a month and finally counting them
I keep a small notebook where I jot down every bag of beans I finish, mostly so I don't rebuy the same Kenyan twice by mistake. Last Saturday I added up the whole thing and got 47 bags in 30 days. That is about 1.5 bags a day, and most of them were 12 oz bags from local roasters here in Columbus. I brew for two people, so maybe 3 or 4 cups each morning, plus a cold brew batch on Sundays that eats a full bag by itself. The number surprised me because I always felt like I was a light drinker, just a couple of mugs before work. What got me was the cost: at an average of $19 a bag, that's close to $900 in a month, which is more than my car payment. I don't plan to cut back on the coffee itself, but I am wondering if I am grinding too coarse and wasting beans, or if my scale is off. Has anyone else actually counted their monthly bag use and landed on a number that felt way too high?
