Pro tip: stop using pre-ground coffee for espresso
I watched a guy at my local shop pull a shot with grocery store pre-ground and it came out like brown sludge, no crema at all. Have you actually tried grinding fresh and seen the difference in taste or are you just stuck in the routine?

Switched to fresh grinding last year and it blew my mind. The difference is night and day. My shots used to pour like muddy water, now they actually hold together and have that golden brown foam on top. Tried a bag of pre-ground from a nice roaster last month when I ran out, and it was still way thinner and more bitter than what I get from beans I grind right before pulling the shot. Can't go back now.

Oh man, I feel this so hard... I bought a bag of pre-ground as a backup once and ended up just putting it in a jar and pretending it didn't exist for three months.
