My French press shattered on a Tuesday morning and I had to rethink everything

Honestly, I was making my usual morning coffee last week before school, and I had just poured the hot water into my French press when the glass carafe just cracked right down the middle. Hot coffee and glass shards went everywhere across my kitchen counter, and I stood there in shock for a good minute. I've been using that same Bodum press for like 4 years, got it for $25 at a thrift store, and it never gave me any trouble before. So I had to scramble and dig out an old pour over cone that I bought on a whim from a shop in Portland back in 2019. It actually made a cleaner cup, but man, the whole process took way longer and I nearly missed my first period class. Has anyone else had a favorite brewing method just totally fail on them out of nowhere?

Man that exact same Bodum press was my daily driver for like 3 years before it cracked on me during a Sunday morning brew. I was running late for a job and had just poured the water in when I heard this loud pop and hot coffee went everywhere, even got some on my favorite hoodie. The worst part was I had to finish making coffee in a random ceramic mug using a paper towel as a filter, which tasted like wet cardboard honestly. I ended up switching to a steel insulated press after that and I'm never going back to glass for anything hot again. It's wild how one piece of cheap equipment failing can just totally throw off your whole morning routine like that.

Oh come on @the_dylan, wasn't the real mistake using paper towels instead of a napkin?
