Just changed my mind about espresso machines vs Aeropress

I always thought you needed a $500+ machine to get real espresso at home. My buddy Dave in Austin challenged me to try his Aeropress with a metal filter, and I gotta admit the crema was way closer than I expected after 3 tries. I ended up grabbing a used Aeropress for $30 off Facebook Marketplace and now I'm pulling shots that taste better than my local shop's. Anyone else find a cheap alternative for espresso that surprised you?

Pulling shots that taste better than your local shop" - yeah that got me too, I was dead wrong about needing a $500 machine.

Oh man, same thing happened to me. Totally thought you needed a fancy Italian machine to get good espresso. My neighbor let me borrow his Aeropress last summer and I was blown away. Now I use mine every morning with a simple hand grinder. Best thirty bucks I ever spent on coffee stuff.
