The $180 magnetic brush system that either saved my season or wasted my cash
Picked up a magnetic sweeping kit back in March because my old rods kept getting stuck on those angled flues in older colonials around here. First three jobs went smooth as butter, but then on a chimney in Medford the magnet detached mid-drop and I spent 2 hours fishing it out with a hook. Was it worth the investment for the clean pulls on straight stacks, or did I just get lucky until I didn't, and should I go back to traditional tools?

Did you try taping the magnet to the brush head before dropping it down? I had the same scare on a job in Salem and a couple wraps of electrical tape kept it locked in place through the whole pull.
