My old brush head snapped off inside a flue in Tacoma yesterday.
It was a cheap replacement I'd grabbed six months ago, and the metal just gave out. What's a good, solid brand that won't leave me fishing for parts?

Snapped off inside the flue? That sounds like a real pain, but is it stuck for good? Sometimes you can get lucky with a magnet on a string if the piece is small enough. For a new brush, just look for one with a solid steel core, not that hollow tube junk. The hardware store brands are usually a step up from the bargain bin stuff.

Sounds a bit dramatic for a broken brush.

Honestly I used to think the same thing until it happened to me. A brush snapped off in my own flue last winter and I spent three hours trying to fish it out with a coat hanger. It's not dramatic if you've actually dealt with the frustration of a stuck brush and the worry that you might have damaged something inside. Plus if that piece gets dislodged later and causes a blockage you're looking at a real headache. Tbh I'd rather be called dramatic than have a chimney fire or smoke backing up into my house. Ngl it changed my whole perspective on buying cheap tools after that.
