Hit 500 chimney caps installed last month

I just passed 500 chimney caps put on by my own hands. Started counting about 4 years ago when a customer asked how many I'd done. It really surprised me when I added it up, didn't think I was anywhere near that number. Most of them were on older homes here in the St. Louis area with masonry issues. Has anyone else kept a running count on a specific job type and found higher numbers than expected?

Funny you mention that - my buddy does gutter work and he told me he hit 1,000 seamless gutter installations last year without even realizing it. He just happened to add it up for his insurance and was shocked. Sounds like you're both in the same boat with the quiet milestones stacking up.

Oh man, that's wild. I mean, it's one of those things where you're just doing your job day after day and it adds up way faster than you think. I bet there are a lot of tradespeople out there who'd be shocked if they actually ran the numbers on their work. It's kind of a cool feeling to realize you've made that much of an impact on your community, even if it's just one chimney cap at a time.
