Walked into an Ikea in Denver and noticed everyone grabbing the same fake plant

I was there last Saturday for a $7 lamp shade and saw like 12 people carrying that FEJKA artificial fern. It actually looks pretty good in my boring corner by the TV, cost me $5. Has anyone else found a cheap plant that hides an ugly spot?

That FEJKA saved my ugly corner too, mine's hiding a cable mess that looks like a tech octopus exploded. At least the fern doesn't judge my life choices.

It doesn't judge my life choices" - look, I get that's funny but let's be real. It's a hunk of plastic and fabric. It doesn't have feelings. People talk about these fake plants like they're some kind of therapy tool or something. I have a FEJKA too and honestly, I can't tell if it's saving my corner or just making me feel worse because I know it's fake and I still bought it. At the end of the day it's a dust trap with leaves. Not exactly life changing. I think we're giving way too much credit to a piece of furniture from a Swedish flatpack store.

Bring up the real hidden cost nobody talks about - you're basically paying IKEA to babysit a dust collection system. That fake fern might look good, but give it a month and it's basically a spiderweb hotel with ambitions. I've seen people keep these things for years without ever cleaning them, and by year two it's not a plant anymore, it's a gray fuzzy blob that used to be green. At least real plants die and you can toss them. With fake ones you're stuck staring at your own neglect until the guilt finally makes you throw it away.

Does anyone else feel like fake plants have gotten way better in the last few years? I remember buying those sad plastic ones from the dollar store that looked like they were melting. But that FEJKA fern is legit. I actually have two of them now, one on my bookshelf and one in my bathroom. The bathroom one gets a little dusty from the shower steam but it wipes clean easy. My cat tried to eat it once and just gave up, so it's pet proof too.
