Vent: Painting your trim white to brighten a room actually makes it look smaller
Everyone in this sub keeps saying slap white paint on all your wood trim to make a dark room feel bigger and brighter, but after painting the trim in my 1920s bungalow in Akron last month, the room felt boxed in because all that bright white fought the beige walls and made the ceiling feel lower. I ended up going back with a soft greige on the trim, spent $22 on a quart of paint instead of another gallon, and it finally feels open. Has anyone else had white trim backfire like that?
