Showerthought: I ripped out my kitchen backsplash and found $300 behind the cabinets
Was peeling off old tile in my 1980s kitchen and found two $100 bills and a silver dollar from 1921 stuffed behind the upper cabinets. Must've been someone's emergency stash. Now I check EVERY hollow wall before I patch it up. Anyone else find random cash in weird spots during reno?

Must've been someone's emergency stash" - that part really got me. I found a mason jar with $87 in quarters and a note that just said "parts fund" behind a wall in my garage once. Makes you wonder what was going through that person's head when they hid it. Silver dollar from 1921 is a legit score though, I'd get that graded.

So @the_anthony did you ever spend that "parts fund" or just leave it as a weird time capsule? Because that note would haunt me. I love the idea of getting the silver dollar graded though, my buddy collects coins and says the condition matters more than the year a lot of times. Your garage find sounds like someone was saving up to fix a car or maybe a motorcycle, but why hide it in a wall? That's the part that gets me about these hidden stashes. People don't just stash money without a reason and I bet there's a story behind it that we'll never know. Makes me want to knock on my own walls and see what rattles.
