My 'vintage' paint can discovery after a messy afternoon

I spent three hours carefully painting a chair with this old, thick paint I got for $5, only for my neighbor to point out the can clearly said 'Exterior Only' in faded letters. Anyone have a good trick for stripping that off without buying more chemicals?

My cousin did that on a bookshelf once. She ended up using a heat gun very carefully on a small spot, it bubbled right up and she scraped it off with a putty knife. Took forever but it worked. What kind of chair is it, wood or metal?

Oh man, a heat gun sounds way more skilled than my usual method. I tried the hairdryer trick on an old dresser and just ended up with a weird, melty mess and a sore arm from holding it for an hour. Pretty sure I made it worse, honestly. That's my level of DIY, making a simple problem into a full time job. Hope the chair is wood, because I have zero advice for metal besides maybe just accepting the sticker as a new feature.
