My neighbor Linda was right about painting the bathroom ceiling
So for like a year I was fighting this weird issue in my upstairs bathroom. Every time it got humid after a shower the paint on the ceiling would start peeling in these ugly little patches. I tried two different kinds of primer and even sanded it all down once. Finally my neighbor Linda who is like 70 and has lived in her house since the 80s walked over one afternoon and told me I needed to use a paint with a mildewcide additive specifically for bathrooms. I thought she was just being old school and blowing smoke. But I was at Lowes last weekend getting something else and figured why not try it for $28. Painted the ceiling on Sunday and after 4 showers this week not a single flake or bubble. Still early but I think she was totally right. Has anyone else had an old school fix from a neighbor actually work out better than the stuff you read online?

My neighbor Martha told me the same thing about using a specific garage floor paint for my basement slab and I brushed her off for six months. Finally tried it and that stuff is bulletproof compared to the regular concrete paint I was using. It's like those older ladies have seen every marketing trick and just know which cheap shortcut actually works. Linda probably painted that bathroom ceiling ten times before finding the right stuff. The online guides always send you down a rabbit hole of primers and prep work when the real answer is just the right paint.

Wait, wait. "That stuff is bulletproof?" You're telling me garage floor paint works that much better on a basement slab? I mean, I know garage paint is made for tires and oil drips, but I never thought to use it indoors. That's wild. I've been fighting with regular concrete paint peeling up in my basement for years. Now I'm half tempted to go ask my neighbor if she's got a secret trick for my cracked driveway too.
