My mom said my living room looked like a cave, so I tried swapping lamps instead of painting
Two weeks ago my mom came over and said my living room felt like a cave. I was about to buy paint for $60 but she told me to try moving my one floor lamp first. I put a $12 warm bulb in it and moved it next to the chair in the corner. Then I took the shade off a table lamp I already had and stuck a $6 LED in that one. Whole room looks totally different for under $20. Now I am wondering what else I am missing. Has anyone else fixed a room just by changing lights instead of buying stuff?
My girlfriend did the same thing to our bedroom last year and I was sure it was just an excuse to avoid painting. She moved the lamp from behind the TV to the corner by the dresser and swapped the bulb to a 2700K one, which is the warm kind, and the whole room went from feeling like a waiting room to actually cozy. The weird part is we had the good bulb sitting in a drawer the whole time, we just never used it. I ended up buying a $9 dimmer plug too so we can turn it down at night, and that made an even bigger difference than the bulb. So yeah, lights are sneaky like that, you move one thing and suddenly the furniture you hated looks fine.
