My grandma's trick of hanging plates on the wall still works better than any $80 gallery kit
I was cleaning out my grandma's house in Toledo last month and counted 14 plates hanging in her hallway, and not one of them had a store bought hanger on it. She just used those little wire plate hangers from the dollar store and some finishing nails she kept in an old coffee can. I remembered thinking it looked old fashioned when I was a kid, but standing there at 38 I realized her wall looked better than the boring frames I paid $80 for at Target. So I tried it in my own dining room with 6 plates I got at Goodwill for $12 total and it took me maybe 20 minutes. The trick is you gotta find the stud or use those plastic anchors, and space them so the plates follow a gentle line instead of a grid. Anyone else still doing the old school stuff your family did, or am I just being sappy about it? Curious if anyone has a spot where the cheap old way actually beats the new way.
