I used to hate peel-and-stick tile until my kitchen floor cracked in February

I was dead set against peel-and-stick vinyl tile for years. Thought it always looked cheap and would peel up after a month. Then a pipe under my sink burst and ruined a section of my old linoleum floor in Springfield. I had maybe $60 to fix it and no time for real tile work. Picked up a box of the stuff from the hardware store for $38 and laid it down in one afternoon. Six months later it's still holding up and nobody can even tell where the patch is. Has anyone else had good luck with this stuff for a quick fix?

...and now you're out here doing peel and stick testimonials like it's a church revival. Next you'll be telling me it fixed your marriage and lowered your car insurance. Real talk though I get it, sometimes you just need a floor that won't laugh at your financial situation. I patched a spot in my bathroom with a single sheet of that stuff after the cat threw up something radioactive and ate through the old vinyl. Looks fine if you don't stare at it too long.

Which do you think works better, the cheap fix that actually does the job or the nice stuff that breaks your bank? I noticed how people in these forums always swear by the expensive solutions until life throws a pipe burst or a cat disaster their way, then suddenly peel and stick is genius. It's like how everyone says you gotta buy the premium tires for your car until you're stranded on the shoulder and just need something that'll get you to work Monday morning.
