I read that painting kitchen cabinets yourself runs about $200 in supplies instead of $4,500 to hire it out
Found that breakdown on a home blog last night and now I'm mad I paid someone to do mine two years ago, has anyone here actually done the DIY cabinet paint job and did it hold up after a year or two?

The $200 in supplies line is what got me too. I did mine last spring with a $70 paint sprayer off Amazon, some sanding blocks, and a gallon of cabinet paint and it came out to maybe $150 total. Two years in and the only spots that chipped were the ones I rushed and didn't sand right, and that was on me, not the paint. The doors I prepped properly still look factory, so the $4,500 quote is honestly wild when the hard part is just patience.
