Found a cheap way to make old kitchen cabinets look like new

I painted my oak cabinets with a $15 can of chalk paint from the hardware store last weekend, no sanding needed. Just cleaned them with TSP substitute first and did two coats. Has anyone else tried this instead of buying new cabinet fronts for hundreds of dollars?

Did you really not have to do any sanding or priming at all with that chalk paint? I’ve heard those all-in-one paints work great for some people but chip like crazy on high-use cabinet doors. It just feels like one of those deals where you get what you pay for, especially if those cabinets see a lot of daily wear and tear.

@spencer_johnson22 mine held up fine but I did use a sealer on the high touch spots.

dude I have a friend who used that same chalk paint on her kitchen cabinets and they looked great for like 6 months then started peeling @spencer_johnson22 is right to be wary. she ended up having to sand and repaint everything anyway with a different paint.
