Finally painted my front door after staring at peeling paint for a year

I had this gross peeling paint on my front door for like 12 months and just ignored it. Last weekend I sanded it down and put on a fresh coat of navy blue that cost $18 at the hardware store. The difference is wild, my whole porch looks brighter and more put together now. Has anyone else put off a small paint job way longer than you should have?

Disagree completely. That peeling paint was a character feature. Gave your house some lived-in personality. Now it just looks like every other cookie-cutter navy door on the block. Bet you miss the cracked spots where you could see the old color underneath. That patina was earned over a year of neglect. Now it's gone forever.

Oh COME ON, you gotta be kidding me! You're actually romanticizing peeling paint like it's some kind of vintage wine? How does looking at a cracked, flaking door every day add ANYTHING to your life except annoyance and maybe a splinter when you grab the handle? Be real - did you ever actually sit and admire that "patina" or were you just too lazy to fix it for a year? And that navy color's a classic, not some trend - you're acting like she painted it neon green with glitter.
