The orchid show in Portland that made me quit fussing over moss
Look, I know everyone in this group swears by sphagnum moss for phalaenopsis, but after the 2024 Portland Orchid Society show, I switched to semi-hydro and never looked back. A grower there, Carol from Eugene, told me her 40 year old orchid collection all sits in LECA with zero moss, and that got me thinking about all the root rot I've nursed. It was bold for me to try since I've killed 7 orchids before, but the roots are actually firmer now after 5 months. Has anyone else ditched traditional media after seeing a big display setup?
